Vijender Singh Beniwal better known as Vijender Singh is an Indian professional boxer and the current WBO Asia Pacific Super Middleweight Champion from Kaluwas, Bhiwani, Haryana. he has defeated Carlos Gongora of Ecuador by 9 to 4 in the quarterfinals which earned him a bronze medal. It was also the first ever Olympic medal for an Indian boxer. For his talent in boxing he has remain the receiver of prestigious Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award. In 2009 the International Boxing Association AIBA announced Vijender as the top ranked boxer in its annual middleweight category list with 2800 points. He also qualified to represent India at the London 2012 Olympic Games. He is currently seen as one of the judges in MTV Roadies.
He was born on 29th October 1985 in a Village Kaluwas, Bhiwani, Haryana.
He was completed his primary level education from the village Kaluwas only. His secondary level education was done at Bhiwani. He completed his graduation from Vaish College. His father Mahipal Singh Beniwal is a bus driver and his mother is a housewife. His elder brother is Manoj Beniwal. He practiced at the Bhiwani Boxing Club where former national level boxer and coach Jagdish Singh recognised his talent. He was coached by the Indian boxing coach Gurbaksh Singh Sandhu. Vijender Singh married to Archana Singh.
